Amanda Blankenship, DDS - Associate Dentist at Lexington Family Smiles

Education & Professional Background

Originally from Maumee, Ohio, a suburb of Toledo, Dr. Blankenship earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology with Honors and a minor in Chemistry from the University of Toledo in 2015. She went on to receive her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry in 2019.

Following graduation, Dr. Blankenship moved to Fort Bragg, North Carolina, where she served as an active-duty dentist in the United States Army for four years. Her military service provided valuable experience treating patients from diverse backgrounds while strengthening her dedication to personalized, high-quality dental care.

Committed to continuing education and expanding her clinical expertise, Dr. Blankenship completed the American Academy of Implant Dentistry (AAID) MaxiCourse at the Dental College of Georgia in 2025. She particularly enjoys Invisalign treatment, dental implants, and restorative procedures such as crowns and bridges, helping patients restore both the function and appearance of their smiles.

Her Approach to Patient Care

For Dr. Blankenship, dentistry is about more than treating teeth. She strives to create a welcoming, comfortable environment where every patient feels heard, valued, and never judged.

She believes that open communication, trust, and individualized treatment are essential to providing exceptional care. Her goal is to empower patients to take an active role in their oral health while helping them feel confident and comfortable throughout their dental experience.

One of the most rewarding aspects of her work is hearing patients share how their treatment has improved their everyday lives, whether that means enjoying their favorite foods again or smiling confidently without hesitation. Knowing that her care can make such a meaningful difference in a patient’s quality of life is what continues to inspire her.

Beyond the Dental Chair

After completing her military service, Dr. Blankenship and her husband, Mark, knew they wanted to continue raising their family in the Carolinas. They were drawn to Lexington for its excellent schools, small-town charm, and convenient proximity to Lake Murray and Columbia.

Dr. Blankenship and Mark have been married for 10 years, having first met on freshman move-in night during their undergraduate years. Together, they have two sons, Beckham and Camden, and three cats named Lilo, Cooper, and Moose.

When she’s not caring for patients, Dr. Blankenship enjoys reading, fishing with her family, cheering on the Ohio State Buckeyes and South Carolina Gamecocks football teams, and spending time on the sidelines watching her boys play soccer and baseball.

“Every time you smile at someone, it is an action of love, a gift to that person, a beautiful thing.” — Mother Teresa
