Michael Moulton, DMD serves Lexington Family Smiles as an Associate Dentist, bringing more than a decade of experience to patients throughout the Lexington, SC community. Since joining the practice in 2013, Dr. Moulton has built lasting relationships with families of all ages, guiding them toward healthier smiles through thoughtful, comprehensive care.
Originally from Albany, Georgia, Dr. Moulton has always been drawn to the idea of a small town with strong community roots. Lexington checked every box, and he has proudly called it home ever since. His academic and clinical training reflects the same commitment to excellence he brings to every patient visit:
- Undergraduate Degree: University of Georgia, 1998
- Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD): Medical College of Georgia, 1998
- Advanced Residency: Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) at NYU, providing focused training in complex restorative and general dentistry procedures
Dr. Moulton is an active member of both the American Dental Association (ADA) and the South Carolina Dental Association (SCDA), staying connected to the latest standards and advancements in modern dentistry. He has also pursued continuing education in Invisalign, further expanding his ability to serve patients seeking orthodontic options.
Philosophy & Approach to Patient Care
In his own words, Dr. Moulton describes what drives him every day: “The most rewarding aspect of dentistry is being able to see the results of your work immediately. Relieving someone’s pain, restoring their ability to eat comfortably, saving a tooth, or giving them a smile they feel confident about. I also have the opportunity to build long-term relationships with patients and watch their oral health improve over the years.”
That philosophy shows up in the procedures he finds most meaningful. Dr. Moulton has a particular passion for restorative work, including crowns, bridges, and dentures, cases where the transformation in a patient’s function and confidence is immediate and lasting. Whether a patient needs a single crown or a full set of dentures, he approaches each case with the same attention to detail and genuine care.

Life Outside the Office
Only 50 minutes from Augusta, Lexington appealed to Dr. Moulton for its small-town feel and its strong school system. Outside of the office, he enjoys hunting, working out, watching his daughter play soccer, and spending time with his family.
